ABOUT

I have been a licensed MFT for 30 years.  My experience includes acting as the Clinical Director for two different residential treatment programs for over 23 years and providing treatment in two locked psychiatric hospitals.  I've supervised over 100 interns.  In order to accommodate our current need for "social distancing I will be conducting sessions over video conferencing (ZOOM) or cell phone. This will create a more flexible scheduling  opportunity for session times and eliminate the need for travel outside the home.

My approach to therapy has been described as compassionate and empathetic. My counseling style and interventions are tailored to fit the individual.  I promote a calm, supportive atmosphere to help deal with loss, anxiety and weathering transitions.     I am a certified Art Therapist and offer sandplay modality as well.  These counseling approaches are suitable for adults as well as children.

COUNSELING SERVICES

    Therapy Services

Individual

Whether you want to talk with someone to help you sort out some difficulties, or if you need ongoing counseling for an emotional disorder, I'm priviledged to provide services to meet your unique needs.

Families

Family therapy is a type of psychological counseling (psychotherapy) that helps family members improve communication and resolve conflicts.

Family therapy is often short term. It may include all family members or just those able or willing to participate. Your specific treatment plan will depend on your family's situation. Family therapy sessions can teach you skills to deepen family connections and get through stressful times, even after you're done going to therapy sessions.

Elderly

Aging is a natural process that may present challenges for some individuals and their families. Although many older adults look forward to moving from middle age into their later years, it may be difficult for others to adjust. The support of a therapist or other mental health professional can help ease the transition.

Children /Adolescents
When children experience emotions or engage in behaviors that interfere with their happiness and ability to thrive, they may benefit from meeting with a mental health professional such as a therapist or counselor. Parents and children often attend therapy sessions together, as therapy can be a safe space in which to address the thoughts, feelings, and emotions experienced by all members.

What To Expect

What to expect

Therapy opens up a variety of exciting possibilities for personal development, relationship growth, and a greater sense of overall well-being.  With the right therapist, you can feel happier, calmer, and more satisfied with life; improve your connections with family and friends, and achieve personal and professional goals.

It is common to experience challenges such as depression, anxiety, grief from losing loved ones, daily life stressors, and health-related issues. Working together, we can address the immediate symptoms as well as the underlying causes of the challenges you face, regardless of how insurmountable they may feel in the moment. I strongly believe that a therapeutic relationship grounded in honesty and trust holds enormous potential to ease suffering, build healthier coping strategies, and help you realize a significantly better quality of life.

Whether you're looking for additional support and guidance through a difficult situation or you'd simply like to move your life in a new direction, I look forward to working with you.
